the wild New Forest

The other day I spent a few hours wandering around a certain part of the the New Forest that seems to be a bit more secret. There seems to be less people, more impressive trees, and loads more free range horses...

For my non British friends who may not know what the New Forest is - it's basically a National Park, a former royal hunting area that was created in 1079 by King William Ist... Still today the park retains many of the rural practices from back in the day.  One of these principal is the pasturing of ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys in the open Forest by local inhabitants, known as commoners. It's amazing to see animals we don't normally picture being 'wild' just hanging out in the forest and fields and can even find them in villages and towns. I love it!
